ABOUT JULIE
Julie Ruth, formerly Julie Lamp, was raised in rural northeastern Ohio. After attending Bluffton University for two years as an Art major, she left to start her own illustration business. She worked full time selling her artwork to a growing list of collectors and building her clientele for her illustration and design. When she arrived at the Vermont Studio Center for a painting residency, she stayed on as a staff artist for over three years. After completing her B.F.A. in Studio Arts degree at Johnson State College where she met her husband, sculptor Shannon Matthew Long, she bought an existing sign and graphic design company, Great Big Graphics, in 2006. Now working full time to expand their business into comprehensive branding for small businesses and organizations, she is able to merge her art, illustration and design into one focus.
Her work ranges from richly painted narratives to thick oil/wax landscape impressions to highly rendered watercolor illustrations. She specializes in identity and package design for her clients, and with the capabilities of her company, Great Big Graphics, branding packages are seen from conception to completion in one location.
